Vintage, Silver plate/ soldered, Queen Mary, lidded meat dish, Elkington/ Cunard Whitestar Steamship Lines, circa 1936--the year Queen Mary made the maiden voyage. Made by Elkington and Gladwin Ltd. The dish has the Cunard Ltd logo on the side and inside it says "Meat" in 4 different languages. The lid has a spot for a fork to fit through and has Cunard White Star stamped on the underside and Elkington on the side of the rim. These 2 pieces obviously didn't start off together as a set, but I acquired them as such so I'm keeping them together. They still fit together, just not very snug.
Marks: Elkington on the side of the rim of the lid. Gladwin Sheffield Embassy Hard Soldered on bottom of dish
Measurements: approx 8 1/2" diameter x 3" tall. Dish is approx 1 1/2" deep
This set is in good vintage condition, especially for it's age and use. Has typical signs of use like light surface scratches and the usual marks/ tiny dings inherent to silver soldered items. No obvious damage.
