XL, vintage, silver plate, catering/ chafing dish. This gorgeous piece was used to serve food in hotels, restaurants, for catering or in wealthy homes. The cover is a roll back dome with a heat resistant, ornate handle and lion head legs. The dome stays open when rolled back or with the flip of a lever open all the way back. It can also be removed to use the dome as a food covering on a tray. Needs approx 14" diameter pan to hold food (can be purchased at a restaurant supply store or online). There is spot at the bottom for holding a larger warmer/ sterno. This is a very solid piece that would be great for use as well as display--especially for those who collect hotel style silver.
Measurements: approx 20" wide x " diameter x 19" tall when closed. Dome is 16 1/2" diameter. The mid base/frame is more oval than round. I'm not sure if it's intentional, but is very solid so it seems it would be difficult to have done it after manufacturing.

The chafing is in good vintage condition. Shows some signs commensurate of age and use such as possible tiny dings, light surface scratches, some light wear to the silver on handle and pivot area. The inside of the sterno holder shows staining from heat. Still absolutely gorgeous and shiny. No obvious damage
