Truly beautiful, antique, Cambodian Silver elephant betel nut box. Made in the traditional Khmer silver work. Made around the turn of the century. Each box is hand-formed of sheet silver and then hand chased and repousse added over copper. This betel box has a lot of detail, right down to the tusks. Use the zoom feature to see. Stamped T90 on the bottom (90% silver). These boxes traditionally held betel leaves, nuts, leaves, tobacco and/ or ointments. Original condition. I made no attempt to clean the inside as can be seen in the pictures of some residue at the bottom inside. Your chance to own a piece of history and beauty.
Measurements: approx 5" long from back to the trunk, the length of the opening (just the body) is 3 1/4" x 4" tall to top of trunk, 2 3/4" height to tallest part of the back x 2 1/5" wide. Weighs 129 grams
Marks: T90 is stamped on the bottom.
This box is in good antique condition. Has typical signs of use such as light surface scratches and residue (as mentioned earlier). No obvious damage.
