Antique Old Sheffield Plate Serving Tray Matthew Boulton

Gorgeous, antique, Old Sheffield plate, oval serving tray by Matthew Boulton or Roberts (Cadman) Smith and Co. This solid tray has a very unique design of flat chasing on the face of flowers and leaves. The rim design is scroll, leaf, flowers and shells. The tray has handles and sits on half ball feet. Has some slight copper bleed through on some of the areas on the face and underneath. Absolutely gorgeous. The uses for this tray are endless. Makes a wonderful butlers tray, tea tray, serving tray, centerpiece or just to display.

Measurements: Approx 29" long handle to handle, 23 3/4" without handles and 17 3/4" wide.

Marks: 2 sun/star marks with either a lantern or snifter (hard to decide which) in the middle. Indicative of Matthew Boulton.

The tray is in good antique condition. Has some areas of the base metal slightly peaking through which I feel adds to its charm and character. Some typical signs of age and use like light surface scratches. No obvious damage I can see.
