Stunning, rare, antique, silver plate, Aesthetic era, serving tray circa mid 1800s by George Eakins and Sons. The face has a lovely Aesthetic design in the middle and very detailed floral design around the rim. The middle has a monogram of "H", but blends well with the design so don't let that deter you if your name doesn't begin with that letter. This tray is a gorgeous piece of history. It's solid and heavy and can be used and displayed for generations to come.
This tray is still in beautiful, antique condition. Has some signs of age and use such as light surface scratches, wear and a tiny ding. It doesn't appear to have plating loss, but does have wear on some of the face and some areas on the underside where it was typically handled. The tray looks much better in person (the camera picks up and accentuates any flaws). No obvious damage. This is gorgeous as is or could make a beautiful replating piece.
Measurements: approx 16 3/4" long x 13 1/2" wide
Marks: Plated by Geo Eakins Philadelphia (George Eakins was in business from 1855 to 1895).
