Gorgeous, antique, Old Sheffield Plate, tea urn/coffee with coal insert circa late 1700s early 1800s. The urn is lobed globe shape on a semi-square based stand on ball feet with Neoclassical figural face and ring handles, lion footed frame with and tinned inside and bottom. There is in inlay of silver of a crest with the initial "L" on the front. Please use the zoom feature to look at all the decorative features--especially the face handles! This tea urn is in beautiful condition, especially for its age and use, with just a little base copper peaking through on some raised areas. Beautiful piece!
Measurements: approx 18" tall, 9" diameter ,13" from back to tip of spout.
Marks: No makers mark (typical for Old Sheffield Plate) if there was a mark, it may have been worn away.
The urn is in good antique condition especially for its age and use. Some typical signs of age and use like light surface scratches/ marks. No visible wear to the plating other than the copper bleed through (which is actually desired for OSP) as previously mentioned, some small dings. The spigot may have had work done (see pic) where the little lever attaches to spigot, please keep this in mind when purchasing. No obvious damage I can see.
